VICTORIAN YOUNG PEOPLE IN ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS
Home / About

You will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.

Alcoholics Anonymous

VICYPAA was founded in 1995. We are a committee of young alcoholics in 12 Step Recovery who throw events and host an annual convention to supercharge your sobriety. We’re young, we’re sober and know how to have fun without drinking.

Our primary purpose is to help other alcoholics achieve sobriety. We are all inclusive, with Al-Anon participation. We stand for “young in sobriety” not just “young in age”. We hang out, have fun, make friends and do good service.

HOW IT WORKS

THE COMMITTEE

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held one month after every VICYPAA convention, where members of Alcoholics Anonymous volunteer for service positions within the committee. Committee members are selected by anonymous vote and service positions are held for a minimum of 12 months. Anyone who attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and has a desire to stop drinking can volunteer for a service position with the VICYPAA committee.

ADVISORY BOARD

VICYPAA is registered with the National Office of Alcoholics Anonymous Australia, and is classified as a “special event” under section 14 of the AA Service Manual. The VICYPAA committee is lead by a chair and Spiritual Advisory Committee (SAC). All action taken by the committee is voted by committee members and overseen by the SAC. VICYPAA is regulated by the VICYPAA Constitution.

OUR MISSION

The primary purpose of VICYPAA is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety. We strive to do this by providing a safe place to go in high-risk times of the year, promoting unity between young people in recovery, assisting the wider membership of AA to carry the message to the younger alcoholic and show everyone that it is possible to have a good time AND stay sober.
